Laurel & Wolf Final Design Creator

PROJECT SUMMARY

PROJECT SUMMARY

As the desire grew for Laurel & Wolf designers to find products for clients’ styleboards by using our internal Designer Sourcing Guide (an ecommerce site within Laurel & Wolf only accessible to designers), this created an opportunity for our team to make the final deliverable the designer gives to the client an easier process. We wanted to connect the designer’s shopping lists they create while sourcing product for their clients to the final deliverable which will save the designer a significant amount of time. This will also make it much easier for the client to shop the product from our site.

PROCESS

PROCESS

We spoke with stakeholders and interviewed designers to see how they put together their final deliverable to the client and their whole process. I created paper prototype versions to review with designers and stakeholders. We were trying to figure out exactly how easy we wanted to make this process for the designer since we needed them to pay attention and add the correct item to the list. We were trying to find the best solution that wouldn’t create a lot of designer error, which creates a bad experience for the client. We also wanted the image of the item to be more prominent since our designers are very visually oriented. Some options we came up with were dragging and dropping the item from a list, selecting it from a list on the side, and choosing the item from form. Through our interviews we decided on a compromise and would use our sidebar real estate that the designers are used to as a way of selecting the item and also not covering up other items the board.  I then created digital wires in Sketch to review with the designers and stakeholders. And then I created final comps and an interaction guide since this project involved a lot of small interactions and moving pieces.
